In my previous post I shared a simple British breakfast recipe for Beans on Toast – now its time for a proper dinner. Bangers and mash with onion gravy and mushy peas is a traditional British meal. Bangers are the ‘sausage’ used in the dish and is a term that goes back to WWII. The term “bangers” is attributed to the fact that sausages, made with water in those days, would explode **BANG** under high heat if not cooked carefully. Friends and family getting together and setting the table with all sorts of picnic goodies to eat. You walk over to the grill to see what’s cooking, and the grill master asks “Can I throw one on the ‘barbie’ for you?” Your response…”why yes you can” and you hand him a marinated portobello mushroom cap. Super Power SmoothieNot only is summertime the best time to see the newest super hero movie, but it is also when many of the super fruits are at their seasonal peak. This smoothie is one of my go to recipes. It contains blueberries and spinach from California, Mangos from Florida, bananas, flax seeds and almond milk. It is packed with all sort of nutritional goodness; Vitamins A and C, omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants and fiber.
